We have recently been gifted a large silver-covered awards shield from the Harrogate Musical Festival.

The festival is finding new homes for a number of trophies accumulated over many years. This particular shield has a special connection with our church: its first winners, in 1901, were the choir of Centenary Chapel; and the second in 1902 was the Priory Street Chapel.

It is wonderful to welcome this interesting piece of local and church history back to the place where its story began. The shield will soon be displayed on the corridor wall for everyone to see.

Once it is in place, we will send a photograph and a message of thanks to the Harrogate Musical Festival.
