Happy new (Methodist) year

It is September and we have begun a new Church Year, a time we can hope of New Beginnings.

We Methodist Christians are lucky – we have two ‘New Years’. This one, starting in September (and echoing the educational year), marks a new annual cycle of Church events and celebrations.

Look out this year for us continuing things we’ve done before, letting some things go, and also trying some new things. Watch this space for more details!

A prayer for the new year:

Lord, we come to you in adoration for all that you have done for us over our lives.

We pray for a new beginning to help us to bring our churches into the 21st Century which will encompass everyone.

We pray for all of our Churches and all who work lovingly to bring your message to all those around them.  We pray that we can all have open minds  and hearts for your love and the ability to spread that love throughout the world.  Amen

Central Welcomes Students

Just a short note for any new or current students attending York St John University or the University of York this academic year.

Come alone or bring a friend, as a one off or make it a habit. We are very close to the St John Central accommodation, and convenient for buses from the UoY campus. There aren’t currently many students who regularly come to Central Methodist Church, but that doesn’t mean you wouldn’t be very welcome.

Most of our worship is traditional in style, and normally happens at 10:30am and 6:30pm every Sunday. We always have refreshments and chat after the service. Keep an eye on @YorkChurch or our Facebook page for regular updates. You can also browse the full preaching plan.

Summer Organ Concerts 2017

This year, our season of lunchtime organ recitals is slightly delayed due to our roof works. Now the work is complete, we’re looking forward to restarting the concerts! All are welcome to enjoy listening to talented musicians playing our wonderful organ.
