York Residents’ Festival 2016

Our church will be open from 11am until 4pm on Saturday 30th January. This is officially part of the York Residents Festival. The inside of our chapel is usually a wonderful surprise for residents who visit during the festival.

You’ll be very welcome to pop in and have a look around the chapel; some of us will be around to answer any questions you may have.  We hope to have a number of organists playing during the day too, so it’s an opportunity to hear what is generally regarded as one of the best organs in the city.

There’s no need to book in advance and you don’t even have to be a resident.

Details of other unusual locations open to visit for free can be found on Visit York’s website: http://www.visityork.org/residents-festival-attractions.aspx

Transforming Central in the news

We’ve been in the York Press a couple of times over the last few weeks. Firstly when we announced our intentions to expand our building’s community use:

“£3m plan announced to turn York city centre church into community centre”

And more recently the reporter, Victoria Prest came to talk to our minister, Rev Chris Humble, to get more detail:

“Ambitious plans to open up huge central York church”

Over the next new weeks and months we’ll be firming up our plans, exploring the relationships we might have with other churches and organisations as well as starting the hard work of finding funding. Please get in touch if you’d like to get involved!

Happy Christmas

The congregation at Central Methodist Church York will be meeting for worship at 10am on Christmas morning. All are welcome to join us.

There will not be services on Christmas eve this year (everyone is encouraged to join other congregations across the city for the traditional evening or midnight services). With regret we have also cancelled our 10:30am service on 27th December.

The normal pattern of worship will resume on Sunday 3rd January.
